And we're proud to be ready from day one.
V12 Retail Finance as part of the Secure Trust Bank group, has been named as one of the first ten lenders taking part in the scheme, meaning we're ready to help eligible retailers and installers offer lower-cost finance to their customers.
For businesses selling solar panels, battery storage and heat pumps, it's a significant opportunity to help more customers turn plans to improve their homes into something they can afford to do.
So, what does the new scheme mean for your business?
First things first, what is the Warm Homes Loan Scheme?
One of the biggest barriers to investing in home-energy technology is the upfront cost.
The Warm Homes Loan Scheme is designed to change that.
The Government provides funding to participating lenders, which is used to reduce the cost of borrowing for eligible customers. It says this could reduce interest rates by up to five percentage points compared with regular loans offered by banks or high-street lenders.
That gives customers another way to fund bigger investments in their homes without needing to pay for everything upfront.
And crucially for retailers, the scheme allows point-of-sale finance offered through installers, suppliers and other intermediaries.
That's where V12 comes in.
What can customers finance?
The scheme supports a range of eligible clean-energy technologies, including:
solar PV
battery storage
air-to-water and ground-source heat pumps
eligible biomass boilers
heat-network connections
certain domestic micro-renewable systems.
There are limits on the amount of finance supported for each technology. For example, that's up to £15,000 for solar PV, £15,000 for battery storage, £20,000 for an air-to-water source heat pump and £35,000 for a ground-source heat pump.
Customers may also be able to combine finance with other eligible government support. The Government says homeowners can combine a Warm Homes Loan with a grant of up to £9,000 through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, subject to the relevant eligibility requirements.
What does it mean for retailers and installers?
This is where it gets interesting.
If you sell eligible home-energy products, the Warm Homes Loan Scheme gives you another way to help customers manage the cost at the point they're making the purchase.
Instead of the cost of solar panels, a battery or heat pump being a reason to put off an installation, eligible customers have access to government-supported finance designed specifically for these improvements.
There are, of course, rules around how the scheme works.
Customers still need to go through the normal creditworthiness and affordability checks. And for solar panels, battery storage and heat pumps, eligible installations must use the relevant MCS-certified products and MCS-certified installers. There are also checks around the customer, property, technology and amount being financed.
But retailers don't have to work out the finance side alone.
We're ready to go
At V12, retail finance is what we do.
We work with retailers across thousands of UK locations, helping businesses give their customers more ways to pay. And our experience in home improvements means we understand that finance needs to fit naturally into the conversation, particularly when customers are making bigger, considered purchases.
Our Warm Homes Loan Scheme model combines that point-of-sale experience with the additional requirements of the new scheme.
The process includes checks around borrower, property, eligible measure, finance cap and installer, alongside V12's normal credit and affordability decisioning. Installation evidence is then verified as part of the process.
In simple terms: if you're an eligible retailer or installer looking to offer Warm Homes finance, we're set up and ready to help you do it.
Why now?
Home-energy improvements are already a growing market.
The Government says almost 150,000 solar panel installations took place in the first six months of 2026, while heat-pump sales reached a record high in 2025.
We're seeing strong demand in home improvement too. V12 finance values in the Home Improvements category increased by 112% year on year in Q3 2026, making it our fastest-growing category during the quarter.
The Warm Homes Loan Scheme has the potential to remove another barrier by making the finance available for eligible installations more affordable.
For retailers, that creates an opportunity not just to offer another way to pay, but to help more customers make home-energy improvements that might previously have felt out of reach.
